Community Outreach

In its continuing commitment to education, the Buffalo Chamber Music Society engages ensembles or recitalists from the series to perform in schools and other community organizations, giving students the unique opportunity of hearing world renown musicians in an informal setting. This outreach program, now in its 34th year, has resulted in over 72 performances in 32 venues, all provided to listeners free of charge.

Silverman Scholarships

A scholarship established by the Buffalo Chamber Music Society in honor of the Silverman family has helped more than 40 students pursue careers in music. Established in 2002, in honor of Oscar and Clare Silverman, the Silverman Scholarships have allowed talented Erie County string players to pursue studies at such institutions as The Juilliard School, the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University, the Eastman School of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.
